N2 Architecture designed this 1300 square foot home to replace the existing flood damaged vacation home for their client in the Surf Cottages of Ortley Beach. The project included a timber pile foundation that not only protects the structure from future flood events, but allowed for vehicle parking on this compact site. The ground level storage area is enclosed with a screen that provides privacy and accessibility without the added cost of doors. The rest of the house consists of three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The loft space provides additional sleeping quarters for guests and is open to the main floor below as well as a fully functional cupola that provides ample daylight to the spaces below.
